Hello all and Merry Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or what-have-you.
I’ve finally finished my first semester at Ryerson University, and what a whirlwind of activity! I’ve had highs, lows, and lots of lost sleep but it was worth it.
I have yet to receive my final marks, but things are looking pretty good as far as Computer Science 109 goes: With 101% on the midterm examination and 100% on both assignments, I think I’m slated for a high mark.
Got a boatload of stuff at Boxing Day, including Terabyte drives, an HD camcorder, designer dress shirts, and a blazer. All that for ~$300; not a bad haul, eh?
Well its been a while since I’ve updated the blog. Since then a lot has happened, especially in regards to friends. The majority of my time has been spent with two people in particular: Maryjane “Emmjay” Brown, and Alexander “Burtle” Orchard. These two are brimming with hilarity and good times to come.
Pretty much sums them up!
So as part as my crazy non-step attempts to become more interesting, I’m now trying to learn another language. Yes that’s right, Mr. Failed-French is going to learn Japanese. Emmjay is the one who got me into it and I’m currently using the Rosetta Stone program to do so (ITS AMAZING!). I’ve yet to memorize the Hiragana and Katakana alphabets, so I’m just working with Romaji (roman characters) for the time being.
I’ll keep you all updated as I struggle through the pain that is learning a language.
Finally, my friend is getting married tomorrow! He has bestowed the honour of Best Man upon me so it’ll be a nice wrap-up for 2009.
I feel ready for next semester. I think I’ll do a lot better, and be on the ball more, than first term.
Finally discarded my old cruddy Sketchers. Those bastards have been cutting my feet because of the plastic wore through the fabric and began to gnaw on my heels.
Picked up some nice Converse shoes on sale for $54.99 and then specially laced them up with a lattice-style of lace found here: Guide To Lacing – Sneaker Freaker Magazine
Here’s a shot:

Well then, it appears I’ve finally moved in!
I’m very impressed with the overall quality of my dorm, its very clean and the mattress appears brand-new. The AC/Heater unit is in fine working order and the internet is very, very fast. I’ve already set up my big-ass router that powers the whole floor.
Two hours in and I’ve already unpacked– Looks like I’ve been living here for years. Orientation Week begins tomorrow and something tells me I’m going to have a blast.
Oh yeah, and the view is pretty kick-ass.
Well since my Studio Lighting tutorial was featured at The Area, the team at Autodesk (Canadian office) decided to send me some stuff!
While I got a few cool things here and there, I loved the t-shirt the most. Look at that sexy beast:
Tutorial is ready!
Ok, so I have yet to write a page for it and put it live on my website with the studio files. But its finished and on Vimeo!
Next Limit RealFlow 4 & Autodesk Maya 2009 Dynamic Fluids Tutorial from Justin Bull on Vimeo.
Well its by no means photorealistic, but I had time restrictions and I was rendering on a 6 year old machine.
Well? Look at the main site!
New template, complete with a “demo reel” of sorts.
Anyway, I’ve teamed up with a few people to get us rolling! So Hip it MHz is open for business!
DAMN! 5 weeks and I still have back issues. I went to the Doc who pointed out to me that I’ve strained some muscle in my back (I can’t look fully left now) which controls the range of movement of my head. He says another 4 weeks until its healed. Nothing but Ibuprofen and exercise until then. Speaking of which, I’ve started a new workout regimen to help make my figure less scrawny
Unrelated note: I know I’m very belated in the tutorial and I’m sorry to say its been put on hiatus until further notice.
